Coating papers for 5 piece doors

Dackor is able to coat papers for 5 piece doors, profile wrapped components and other applications. This post will explain the difference in papers.

MELAMINE PAPERS: Board companies that utilize papers take a raw (typically 80 gram per square meter) paper that then is sent to an impregnator. The papers are sent through a melamine bath which full saturates throughout the entire paper. The paper then becomes brittle and hard. It is then used on a short cycle melamine press to create TFL, Thermo Fused Laminate, aka melamine board. This board is then used to build cabinets and other furniture and edgebanded. We are able to coat melamine papers however the structure of the paper is not so durable so care needs to be used on what type of door profiles are used. 

PRE-IMPREGNATED PAPERS: A pre impregnated paper is one that is saturated with a resin such as polyurethane, acrylic or PUR resin in which to give inner core strength to raw papers. After saturation, this paper would then be coated by Dackor. This makes the paper durable for stair treads, flooring or 5 piece doors. Often these papers can be 60 grams per square meter but they may thinner or thicker and still coated by Dackor.

POST-IMPREGNATION: Dackor is developing or may have developed by the time you read this post impregnated paper. This means that we take a raw paper and saturate it with a resin that is more flexible than melamine saturation ran through a melamine bath. The advantage in post impregnation is the existing inventories of raw papers may be used in lieu of a completely new run of pre impregnated papers.
